Granite Views - An Exhibition by the Photo Club

  • © Tobias Riedl

The exhibition shows photographs taken on May 26, 2024 at the “Lost Places” workshop of the Flossenbürg Photo Club. For one day, visitors had the opportunity to look around the so-called “OSTI quarry” and its associated buildings. The site in the north of Flossenbürg was used as a quarry during the existence of the concentration camp. Prisoners were tortured under unimaginably terrible conditions - often to the point of death. After the war, the quarry continued to be operated by various tenants. The workshop captured both exterior views of the site and the buildings, as well as detailed photographs of granite walls, processing machines, workshops, storage halls, tools, and even former apartments. The photographs document the state of the quarry in May 2024 and, in their complexity, show both the lack of commemorative cultural development and a piece of regional history.
