Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is the memorial open on Mondays?

Yes, the Flossenbürg Concentration Camp Memorial is open daily, even on public holidays (except Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day). From March to November the exhibitions are open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, from December to February from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

What should I consider in the memorial?

The Memorial grounds contain a cemetery where over 5000 people are buried. We ask that you conduct yourself accordingly and respect the feelings of other visitors who may be survivors or relatives of former prisoners.

Where can I park at the memorial?

We have two large parking lots (P1, P2) where you can park without time restrictions. All parking lots are free of charge. At the former headquarters, there are several parking spaces where parking is limited to two hours. For people with disabilities, two parking spaces are available in front of the headquarters and two at the museum café.

Are there chargers for electric cars?

Yes, on P2 there are four charging stations for electric cars.

May dogs be brought to the Memorial?

As the memorial site is a cemetery, only service dogs are permitted. Four-legged friends are very welcome in the museum café. You can take a break there and your dog can enjoy some refreshments.

Can I park my camper van at the memorial?

You are welcome to park your camper van in the large P1 parking lot for one or two days. However, there is no electricity or water connection. We recommend the campsite at Gaisweiher, which is about five minutes away, but is often fully booked in the summer months.

How much time is needed to view the Memorial?

A visit to the Memorial grounds takes approximately two hours. The exhibition can be viewed in approximately one hour. The film “Wir haben überlebt ... die anderen sind geblieben” (“We Survived ... The Others Remained”) in the basement-level film room of the exhibition “The Flossenbürg concentration camp 1938–1945” takes 23 minutes, and starts on the hour and half hour.

Can I take photos in the Memorial?

Yes, you can film or take photos for private and non-commercial purposes in the outdoor areas as well as inside the exhibitions.
Please note that the use of drones and filming or photographing of tours and seminars is only permitted with the prior written consent of the memorial's administration. You can find the form sheet here.
